Seedlings for iPhone

Privacy Policy

Seedlings keeps a record of your child's school year — attendance, hours, photos of their work, and the reports you make from them. That record belongs to your family. We built the app so that it never has to pass through us, and it doesn't.

The short version

Does Seedlings send your records to us? No
Do we have a server that stores your data? No
Analytics, trackers, or advertising SDKs? None
Is your data sold or shared with anyone? Never
Do you need an account to use the app? No
Where does everything live? On your iPhone — and, if you turn on backup, in your own private iCloud

1Who we are

Seedlings is made by Polaris Interactive LLC. If you have a question about privacy, or about anything else in the app, write to seedlingsinfo@polarisapplabs.com and a person will answer.

2What Seedlings stores, and where

Everything you put into Seedlings is stored on your device: your students' names and grade levels, the days you mark present, instructional hours, subjects, photos of schoolwork, titles, notes, activities, and the PDFs you generate.

If you turn on iCloud backup in Settings, that same information is copied to your own private iCloud storage, under your Apple Account. It is not a shared or public database, and it is not ours: we cannot read it, list it, or recover it for you. Turning backup off stops new copies from being made.

Because there is no Seedlings server, there is no Seedlings login, no password to leak, and no company database that could be breached and expose your family's records.

3What we receive

Nothing you enter. We do not collect usage analytics, crash telemetry with your content in it, device identifiers, advertising IDs, or location. The app contains no third-party analytics, attribution, or advertising software.

Apple may provide us with anonymous, aggregated information about the app itself — how many people downloaded it, and anonymized crash reports if you have opted into sharing diagnostics with Apple. That data comes from Apple, is not tied to your identity, and never contains your students' records.

4Camera and photos

Seedlings asks for camera access so you can photograph schoolwork. Photos you take or choose are saved inside the app's own storage for that keepsake. Seedlings never reads your photo library. It adds photos to it only when you ask: when you choose Save Image for a keepsake card from the share sheet, or — if you turn it on in Settings — the camera snaps and document scans you take inside the app. Nothing is uploaded to us; photos go straight from your phone to your own Photos library.

5Sharing is always something you do

When you share a keepsake card, export a PDF, or send an evaluator packet, the app hands that file to the standard iOS share sheet and you choose where it goes — Messages, Mail, Files, a printer, or anywhere else. Nothing leaves the app on its own, and nothing is shared automatically or published anywhere.

Keepsake share cards deliberately do not include grades.

6Purchases

Subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple tells the app whether a purchase is active; we never see your payment details, card numbers, or billing address. Manage or cancel a subscription any time in your Apple Account settings.

7Children's information

Seedlings is designed for a parent or guardian to use. The records it holds are about your children, and they are entered by you, stay on your device, and are never transmitted to us or to any third party. The app has no accounts, no messaging, no social features, no user-generated content visible to anyone else, and no advertising — so there is no way for a child's information to reach the outside world through the app.

8Keeping, deleting, and taking your data with you

We keep no copy of your records, so there is nothing for us to retain, restore, or delete on your behalf.

9Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (Europe and the UK) and the CCPA (California) give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete the personal information a company holds about you. In our case the answer is unusually simple: we hold none. There is no profile to request, no data to port, and nothing to sell — your records are in your hands the entire time. We do not "sell" or "share" personal information as those laws define it.

10Security

Data on your device is protected by iOS and your device passcode or biometric lock. Backup copies are protected by Apple's iCloud security under your Apple Account — we recommend keeping two-factor authentication turned on. Because we operate no server and hold no copy, there is no additional place for your data to be exposed.

11Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the effective date above. Substantive changes — anything that would alter the answers in "The short version" — will also be noted in the app's release notes.
